Have you ever asked ChatGPT, Google AI, or Gemini where you should stay on your next trip? You’re not the only one doing it. Based on a 2024 survey, around 4 in 10 consumers globally used an AI-based tool for travel planning. This is an important reminder for hotels in Davao. General managers, marketers, and investors must consider that AI now deserves a place in their marketing strategy.

Let’s get into the details.
The AI Results at a Glance

After running the queries through the three major platforms, I noticed something interesting. The wording of the question often changed the shape of the answer.
A few patterns stood out from my AI Visibility Report:
- Clear, measurable details created more agreement.
- Amenities were less predictable.
- Some answers came with extra layers of information.
- AI sometimes added its own interpretation.
- The same hotel can appear differently depending on the question.
The questions themselves became part of the story. They showed me not only w. hich hotels appeared, but also how AI handled different types of traveler searches.
Comparing AI Results Across Traveler Questions
Here’s what happened when I placed these questions side by side.
| Traveler Question | Platform Consensus | Hotels Named | My Take |
| Near Davao International Airport | Very strong – 4 hotels appeared on all 3 platforms | Davao Airport View Hotel, Kampotel Davao, The Executive Villa Inn & Suites, dusitD2 Davao | Distance is measurable, so AI had less room to interpret the answer. This produced the strongest consensus in the study. |
| Budget | Strong for one hotel | Red Planet Davao – the only hotel named by all 3 platforms. Green Windows Dormitel appeared on ChatGPT only. | Consistent brand and pricing information can help reinforce a “budget” classification. |
| Affordable | Overlapped with the budget results | Hotel Uno – the only hotel to appear across all 3 platforms for both affordable and budget questions | AI treats “affordable” and “budget” as related, but not identical. |
| All budget-related questions | Consistent across 3 prompts | Hop Inn Hotel Davao and Red Planet Davao | These two stood out across the budget searches. Their information stays consistent online, and that visibility shows. |
| Five-star / luxury | Platforms disagreed | Dusit Thani Residence Davao was ChatGPT’s strongest five-star match | A “5-star” label isn’t always straightforward for AI. Different platforms may weigh different sources. |
| Gym | Strong – 3 hotels appeared on all 3 platforms | dusitD2 Davao, Seda Abreeza, Park Inn by Radisson Davao | Google AI stood out by providing live ratings, review counts, and current rates. This suggests Google Business Profile data may play an important role in AI visibility. |
| Free parking | Moderate agreement | Acacia Hotel Davao and Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao appeared across all 3 platforms | Amenity information appears less definitive. AI frequently treats these details as something travelers should confirm before booking. |
What the Common Ground in AI Visibility Tells Us

Looking across the results, a few patterns became clear about what helps hotels in Davao stand out in AI searches.
- Consistency beats charm. The hotels that kept reappearing aren’t the fanciest options in the city. They just have the most consistent brand info and review volume online. That seems to matter more to AI than raw appeal.
- Small properties can break through, briefly. Green Windows Dormitel’s ChatGPT-only appearance shows real visibility on one platform. But that visibility didn’t carry over to the others. It’s a flag, not a failure.
- Classification questions expose AI’s seams. “Five-star” needs interpretation, not just repetition. That’s exactly where the three platforms start to pull from different playbooks.
- Geography can be elastic. Ask about “Davao City” luxury hotels, and the answers don’t stay in city limits. If your competitive set feels wider than expected, this may be why.
In the end, there wasn’t one universal hotel list. The answer depended on what the traveler wanted to know.
A Pro Tip for Travelers and Hotel Owners
The biggest takeaway from my study is that an AI answer should be treated as a signal, not a source of certainty.
| For Travelers | For Hotel Owners and Marketers |
| Use AI to build a shortlist, then verify the details before booking. | Check whether AI describes your hotel accurately and consistently. |
| Pay attention when different platforms give you different answers. That difference can be a sign to investigate further. | Look for gaps between what your hotel offers and what AI appears to understand about it. |
| Look for gaps between what your hotel offers and what AI appears to understand about it. | Keep important details current across the sources AI may use to understand your property. |
| Don’t assume a hotel is the best choice simply because AI placed it first. | Don’t measure visibility only by how often your hotel is mentioned. Look at why and when it appears. |
AI can narrow the traveler’s options, but the final decision still belongs to them.
Hotels in Davao should pay attention to how their property is represented online. Accurate and recognizable information can help long before a traveler is ready to book.
