When travelers ask AI where to stay, which hotels show up? 

For Volume 2 of my AI Visibility Report, I looked at how hotels in Davao appear in ChatGPT, Google Overview, and Gemini. The study examines which hotels get mentioned most often and how they perform across different travel needs.

What Questions Did We Ask AI?

To understand how AI recommends hotels, I tested questions based on common traveler needs. These include:

• General hotel searches
• Budget stays
• Luxury accommodations
• Reviews
• Value for money
• Business travel

I ran the same questions across ChatGPT, Google AI, and Gemini. This allowed us to look beyond simple hotel rankings. They also showed how recommendations can change depending on the traveler’s intent.

Which hotels do you recommend in Davao City?

This is the most general question in the study. It gives us a baseline for seeing which hotels AI recommends without a specific budget, travel purpose, or preference.

• Four hotels appeared across all three platforms for the broadest question in the study. That was one of the clearest points of agreement we found.
• With little context to guide the recommendation, AI tends to favor hotels with a strong and consistent online presence. That does not always mean the newest or most expensive places.

Where should I stay in Davao City?

Unlike the first question, this one puts the decision directly in the hands of AI. It gives the platforms more room to consider factors such as location, amenities, price, and overall experience.

• Three hotels consistently appeared across ChatGPT, Google AI, and Gemini. That suggests location plays a bigger role in AI recommendations than many might expect.
• For hotels, clearly stating their district, nearby landmarks, and attractions can make a difference. AI does not only look at the hotel itself. It also tries to understand where the hotel fits within the city. A hotel that performs well for one type of search may not always appear in another.

Which budget hotels do you recommend in Davao City?

Budget is often one of the first things travelers consider when choosing accommodation. For this question, I wanted to see which options AI associates with affordability.

• Green Windows Dormitel, on the other hand, appeared only in ChatGPT. This could point to stronger visibility on certain sources. However, that visibility may not be as consistent across other platforms.

What are the most affordable hotels in Davao City?

This question puts price at the center of the recommendation. It highlights which options AI associates with the lowest-cost choices.

• Affordable and budget may sound like the same thing to a traveler, but the results tell a different story. Only Hotel Uno appeared across all three platforms for both questions. 
• The bigger takeaway is that AI does not always group similar price-related searches together. A hotel may have strong visibility for one term but miss another with nearly the same intent.
• For hotels, it helps to account for the different ways travelers describe price and value.

What hotels in Davao City offer good value for money?

Value goes beyond getting the lowest price. Travelers want the best experience for what they pay.

• For independent hotels, there’s a clear takeaway. Keep your name, rates, and amenities consistent across booking sites and other online sources. Consistent information makes it easier for AI to recognize and recommend your business.

Which luxury hotels do you recommend in Davao City?

Luxury travelers have different expectations. They may look for high-end amenities, premium service, or established hotel brands.

• This suggests that AI may view luxury accommodation through a wider regional lens. For upscale hotels in Davao, that means the competitive set may extend beyond the city itself.

What are the five-star hotels in Davao City?

A five-star label gives travelers a specific standard to look for. So, let’s figure out which hotels AI actually placed in that category.

• That raises an important point about AI-generated hotel information. A five-star label may not be treated as a simple fact. AI can pull information from different sources. It may also weigh conflicting details before making a recommendation.

Which hotels in Davao City have the best reviews?

Reviews can strongly influence how travelers view a hotel before booking. That’s because they give people a glimpse of what previous guests experienced.

• This question had one of the strongest levels of agreement in the study. Four hotels appeared across all three AI platforms.
• Gemini also included specific review scores. That adds another layer to the comparison. I’d still recommend checking those figures against the latest ratings on booking platforms before publishing. If they match, the numbers give readers a more concrete way to compare review performance.

Which hotels in Davao City are good for business travelers?

Business travelers may prioritize different features than leisure guests. Location, accessibility, Wi-Fi, meeting facilities, and proximity to commercial areas can all influence their choices.

Our query examined which hotels AI recommends for this audience.

• This was the strongest three-way agreement so far. The same four names appeared across three tools.
• Business travel also seems to produce more consistent recommendations. Factors like Wi-Fi, meeting facilities, and proximity to key business areas give AI clearer signals to work with. That may explain why the platforms aligned more closely on this question.

Beyond the Rankings

Frequent mentions do not necessarily mean a hotel is the best option for every traveler. AI recommendations depend on the question, available information, and the factors each system considers relevant.

A few things stood out from the study:

• Visibility depends on the question. A hotel may appear often for business travel but show up less in budget-focused searches.
• Price is only one factor. A lower rate can help a hotel stand out. AI may also consider location, amenities, and guest experience.
• Different travelers get different recommendations. The same hotel can perform well for one type of traveler. It may appear less often for another.
• Consistency matters. Hotels with clear and consistent information across online sources give AI more signals to work with.
• Being mentioned is not the same as being the best. Frequent recommendations simply show that a hotel has strong visibility for a particular type of search.

The bigger takeaway is simple. AI visibility depends on how well a hotel matches the intent behind the search.
