Parents! I think that it’s given that we should always look into the interests of our children. Not only because we want to guide them or give them advice on what they want to deal with, but of course to make them feel that we would give them the support that they need.
Before I am a digital marketer in Davao City, I am first a mother. Ever since Liam was a kid, he has been crazy for cars and I’ve noticed lately that he has proactively gotten himself a learner’s permit for driving and that he’s even planning to get a driver’s license.
As I don’t have a driver’s license and I haven’t given it much thought, I asked him about how he got his learner’s permit, and here’s how he did it:
Prepare and Know The Requirements
Of course, we don’t want our kids to take up too much time running back and forth the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to your home just to get the requirements they’re missing. So we’ve listed some things you must remember;
- Must be 16 years and above (If your kid is still a minor, he/she shall need a permit duly signed by the parent)
- A Filipino Citizen, if not, should be living in the Philippines for at least 1 year
- Medical Certificate (To be acquired on LTO Certified Clinics)
- Application for License Form
This was all you needed to secure your student license, however, recent changes on the issuance added more restrictions to the application, and this is by adding 15 Hours of Theoretical Driving Course.
Liam’s Experience
Getting a student’s license should be quite easy and would take more or less at least 30 minutes. And Liam was lucky that he took his student’s permit without the mandatory 15 hours of Theoretical Driving course. However, due to someone’s bad handwriting for the parent’s permit (I swear I don’t know), his letter was sent back to be rewritten. So instead of 30 minutes, he got his license in 4 hours.
The only sad part for him is that his permit is expiring since this kind of permit only has one-year validity, so I guess he’ll be taking the 15 hours mandatory driving course.
